I guess a better way to describe it would be that most yumes like characters that have a lot of traits that you could read as dominant and naturally charismatic, and the content they create with them reflects that. I haven't seen many self proclaimed yumedans myself but from the ones I have seen I do think them wanting their favs to take the initiative in their fantasies is a defining thing for them too.
