Extremely late to the party on this, but the more I think about this game's entire concept, the less it makes sense
From the obvious standpoint of what we see in the game, its not set that far into the past just from things like the level of technology and clothing styles and all that. And the game makes it clear that Pokemon aren't just something that suddenly popped up recently just by all the "Almighty Sinnoh" and talk of the descendant Pokemon and what not.
So then why do people still know so little about Pokemon, or fear them and all that stuff? Even going as far back as hundreds or more years ago, humans haven't been anywhere near as superstitious towards animals as they are portrayed as in this game. Humans have been able to train and domesticate far more wild creatures than Pokemon, as seen by farm animals, and canines and felines. And this was done my multiple peoples and cultures in different parts of the world.
>Because kids game
Even then, its just stupid and everything in this game feels forced.
>Pokemon are dangerous
So were wolves. The dog breeds of today didn't just become as friendly as they were. Or look at pigs, and how fast they can regress from domestication if they are put back into the wild.
Sometimes I can ignore stuff and just write it off as the story's world's internal logic and other stuff, but this entire story is just too much for me to be able to suspend my disbelief.
I'm not saying research wouldn't have been done, as thats obviously gonna happen regardless over time and learn new things as understanding evolves. But the way people act towards Pokemon in this game despite coexisting with them for however long the game implies just doesn't add up.
>TL;DR
This story is so fucking dumb even by Pokemon standards
