Why do you call that late game? There are two regions, and not one. What do you call late game is half game.
It's the reason that the gyms a relative simplier, with the last johto gym been at level 40. The game is made to you advance quickly. By the time you got to Kanto, most of your "problems with GS" have already been fixed. You are basically listing everthing wrong with a gen before the 5th badge.
