Also, Japanese is the default language the games are programmed in and changing this for the English version would screw up the meta game entirely.
I don't understand why they can't just change some simple things though. Clemont's gym quiz in XY for example, when you answer correct, it's indicated by a circle. However, we use check marks in the USA and I'm sure a few other countries like the UK and Canada use it as well to indicate a correct answer, but in Japan they use circles and this flew by the localization team. It's not a very big thing, but it still would've been nice, fucks sake.
