>>45001818>>45001834The e-series had a lot of gorgeous cards, but it also had a lot of really shit-tier, sketchy cards. For instance, Nishida really got her shit together for the Neo series, tightened up her linework and shading/hilights from earlier sets. The Espeon dancing on water from Neo Discovery is one of her illustrations, and it's easily one of the best in the entire TCG.
Then you look at her work in the e-series, and easily more than half of it looks like utter trash. Things are hideously off-model (and not in the cutesy, fun Komiya way -- in a way that looks unintentional), everything is fuzzy and indeterminate, the line work is suddenly far worse. I don't know what explains this sudden drop in quality, but it's all over the e-series.
