I kind of get it though. I'm not a GF apologist or whatever but having yearly releases is the reason why the games have been lacking in quality and core content, and I don't imagine it's a GF-only decision. Cutting Megas AND Z-Moves in favor of Dynamaxing sucks too because they tried combining both mechanics in one but ultimately made something shallow mechanically and kind of lame concept-wise. Very questionable decisions all around in terms of resource management too (ex. Currydex).
With that said I've pretty much decided that the mainline Pokemon games just aren't for me anymore. TPCi have figured out that casual players are better to pander to if they want to increase short-term profits. A hardcore player such as myself and many other /vp/oreons can get our fix from (good) ROM hacks, and luckily there are a substantial amount out there.
