>>51694901It'd take an incredible team comp to not box the starter before the 8th gym. If I don't ditch the starter I'm always left feeling like I've missed out on including a cooler, more niche pokemon instead; or something I've never used. If you're under 16 I can understand keeping the starter in your party the whole way through, but otherwise you're crippling yourself mechanically and missing out on a more nuanced playthrough.
