Honestly I will be super furious if Tomioka tries to use story and dynamic to justify Contestshipping. Because the story needed Ash to beat Alain and win the Kalos league but Tomioka completely ignored that. Furthermore, he tried to shove Serena on Ash despite she having zero dynamic with Ash.
Whatever excuse Tomioka could use for Contestshipping died when Alain won the Kalos League.
Its just infuriating that Tomioka can't do anything for Ash to win in any League tournament or individual Tournament saga but he can make sure that Ash doesn't end up with the best girl in the entire series. If Tomioka can't do anything good for Ash than he has no right to do anything bad to him ether.
