>>53945556A show can be exciting as a kodomo but only when it really embraces its nature, see the ashnime.
As opposed to PM2023 which parades around being le deep and mature except in a kodomo environment all depth is going to be superficial and inconsequential like it is now.
Your claim had SOME weight when Riko was the sole MC but now it's all meaningless when Roy is in the spotlight.
Hell Roy is a straight up cliche literal kodomo character, he is dragging the anime to literal YokaiWatch levels of childishness and will be the reason the anime fails everywhere except Japan.
Horizons with Roy is in no way fresh (although it WAS for a short time with Riko) and in no way exciting (Ash and his posse already covered all there was to cover in Pokemon from a male perspective).
Unless the writers ditch Roy permanently and shit all the focus to Riko, PM2023 will be a repetetive piece of crap in the shadow of the ashnime.
Oh yeah and nobody really cares about the Rising Volt Tacklers because they are LITERAL adults. It's supposed to be about 10-16 year old adolescents!!!!
If the RVT crew was all like Brock's/Alain's age (15-17) instead of whatever age they are (30s?) then it would have been way more kino.
Like let's assume that Molly is in fact a stray Joy. Okay so what she's literally 30 years old, she's too old and mature for it to be relatable drama at a kodomo level, they'd have to resort to shounen-seinen tier drama to make that sort of conflict interesting but the show's rating does not allow this in any tangible form.
This is why getting Dai Sato wasn't a good idea - he's an awesome writer but there's no way he'd make anything compelling under kodomo revulation constraints.
And judging by the 10 episodes so far, Dai Sato never even watched the ashnime like unironically as a kid, it seems he does not understand what Pokemon's about
