>>57619643>>57619648He might not even be recounting the Mega Evolution specials we know from the anime, it could be a completely different experience. Since Alain isn't directly namedropped, it could just so happens to involve a completely different lad with Mega Charizard X (or potentially even a plain shiny Charizard or a shiny Mega Charizard Y, it's not specified it's a Mega Charizard X after all), or perhaps it's a completely different Alain under completely different circumstances, and thus has no compatibility with the anime's Alain.
Implying the Mega Evolution Specials are canon to the games once again raise the problem that the anime's continuity cannot wholesale co-exist with the game's continuity if you mean to imply this is the same Alain from those specials, as we once again bump into the Ash/Red problem since the Mega Evolution Specials are a part of the anime's continuity, and even beyond that, there's still yet more discrepancy snags. The Kalos games take place well after the Hoenn games, and if the anime is canon, then Ash's "less than a year" journey would have seen Lysandre fucking die way before he could ever enact his plot in XY. And Zygarde was explicitly involved in stopping Lysandre's schemes in the anime, yet no character makes mention of this historic event, not even Sina and Dexio, who are specifically in Alola because of Zygarde's presence there, despite the fact you could argue that Ash is a real existing person, meaning those extremely recent events could have indeed happened.
