While Aether Drama in the anime was kind of disappointing and Gladion would have been done better if he was treated as a parody for all the Chunni. It would have been hilarious if Ash asked him about all the weird poses he makes during battle and Lillie blurb out that those pose are from his favorite anime hero.

For Alain and Gladion, you’re partially right. The reason people like them is not because they’re edgy, but because of the other parts. Alain because of relationship with Manon and MCX, and Gladion because of his role in the Aether family drama.

Amethio is a cold boring dull stoic rival like Alain and Trip, nether one of them has 10% of personality that Bede has in the game and manga. To me, Bede feels more like a narcissistic boastful rival like Georgia and Burgundy. Surprisingly Georgia and Burgundy were more well received than Trip but anipoke keep pushing the same cold stoic rival like Alain and Gladion for Ash.

I get that Paul got super popular but that because he clashed with Ash over his ideology, not because he was cold and stoic.

There's no point in a better Ash or a worse Ash when it's still the same character excpet with a lame design.
Roy should have been something completely different from Ash, like a proto Alain or something. Or like Drew or like Ritchie or something else entirely.
As he is, he just causes nausea because he makes everything too predicatble without providing the nostalgia Ash did.
That's why the episodes with Riko as the solo MC were much better because you didn't know what to expect and they were even structured way differently from the ashnime stuff.

Riko was legit fresh and new as a Pokemon MC. I was lowkey excited to see how'd she become a strong Poemon battler of the same caliber as Ritchie/Paul/Tobias/Alain.
Yeah I can accept that.
But it all went into the trash when they introduced Roy.
He's literally a more boring Ash clone so what's the big deal about trashing on Ash when Roy is literally the same, also he steals screentime from the actually interesting character of Riko.
I gave this anime a chance but Roy ruined it.
I would have been okay with it if Roy had a clearly defined original personality that separated him from Ash but as it is PM2023 is literally the same as the ashnime without the iconicness now.
Roy killed any point PM2023 had on a conceptual level

It's popular in all fandoms. It's just really noticeable in something kiddy like Pokémon because of how it sticks out like a sore thumb against all the friendship stuff, given how alien the idea that Ash's actual friends would betray him for literally any reason is. Hell, the one time there actually was a betrayal of Ash by a friend canonically, that being by Alain in XYZ's finale arc, they had to clarify that he had been used, and even there it was kinda 3edgy5me.

A professional trainer teaches their pokemon to self train specially when they catches more than 10 pokemon.

Ash doesn't feed his own Pokemon, what the fuck are you smoking? Someone else always does it for him.

Gladion travelled by himself, so he had no one feeding his pokemon. Alain had his girlfriend, but was mostly working by himself as well, so he likewise didn't have someone else do all the work for him.
All you're doing is making me more aware of just how much babysitting was given to Ash

Because Ash trained them to be self trained. Also Ash learn from an actual Pokemon Breeder turn Doctor to what to feed his Pokemon. If anything Ash trained his pokemon more than Alain and Gladion ever did.
