Wrong, Ash was the protagonist of Pokemon anime for 26 years and he spend 20 years of that as a loser getting screwed by side characters like Alain. They only decided to make him a champion in order to replace him.

Riko and Roy just staring out, they does not have any protagonist plot armor.

They knew OS-DP version of Ash with an attractive girl with similar personality and dynamic as Dawn can carry the series for next 20 years. Specially if they make a series where Ash join a group of explorer in an airship while protecting a friend with mysterious object from an evil organization. But they wanted to pander their crappy self inserted edgelord like Alain/Amethio and Ash is simply in their way.

I came back to the Anime after 20+ years just to watch this shit. All I wanted were well animated battles and couldn't even get that. I dropped after Alain vs Diantha, didn't even give a shit anymore by Ash Cynthia.
I thought that since this was the single biggest moment in the Anime’s entire history, they would've tried to make something worthwhile. I've seen clips from the Kalos season, I know they are better than whatever this garbage was.

The Lesson was learned and I will never watch this show ever again. I shouldn't have wasted my time.

Its obvious that an executive with very low standard is involve who kept pushing the idealized version of himself and his idealized version of woman in the show. I would not surprise if he/she has political connection to force Anipoke to follow his idea.

Pokemon is not One Piece , in fact I hate how those anime spend dozens of episode in one fight with characters just talking. Like the early episode where they fought against that Butler.

Alain was the main character in Mega Evolution and so did Red in origin, nether one of them train as much as Ash. Not to mention who was also a main character. The only main character who trained as much as was Dawn.

Everytime I read this, I wonder if any of you actually watch the show or skip the whole episode just to watch the battle. Because there were multiple episode of Ash training his pokemon. There was an episode where Pikachu get jealous at Ash training Riolu too much, Farfetch'd's first battle episode started with all of Ash's Pokemon training and ended with Ash decided to train with a leek to understand Farfetch'd battle style. There was even an episode where Ash goes for special training to Wikstorm.

In fact, Ash trained ONSCREEN more than any other trainer in the show including Iris and Alain who reached Master Eight without any training at all, But you are biased toward Ash so you will complain about Ash never training but would defend characters like Iris, Alain and Amethio being super strong without any training at all.

If I remember right, the first poster for SM dropped right after Alain defeated Ash too. So if you're the type of person who's really into what XY was doing, got hit over the head with the Kalos Disaster, and then saw Ash looking like a Looney Toon in the next series, yeah, that's going to cause a breakdown.
