Remember those anime that has a stoic loner protagonist that nobody notices and a popular handsome guy that everybody loves? As those stories continue, the loner guy shown to be stronger & better while the popular handsome guy is just a pathetic weak dumb guy who just a punching bag for the awesome loner protagonist.

XY/XY&Z was basically that with Alain being the true protagonist while XY Ash was the handsome popular guy who purpose was to be Alain's punching bag

Again the same excuse from XY fags despite it was clear that XY&Z was written as Alain pandering show.

First of all, Yajima was a director.
Second, he only cared about pandering Alain. He didn't even gave a crap about Ash at all and pretty much wasted all the animation budge and resource to make Alain good look. He also purposefully ruined Serena's character because he could not pair her with Alain and successfully killed Amourshipping to shoving an unnecessary kiss.
