I don’t like Leon as a character but I can praise his battle with Ash in regards to so many things writing wise. The various usages of moves both strategically and tactically was on a whole different level. Libero, Counter Shield, Gmax Terror Lock, Dual Wield, Cursed Body, Psychic Terrain + Expanding Force, Ice Stage, Fury Cutter breaking Psychic Terrain, Aura Sense, Dragon Tail, Kairyuseigun, Drum Attack shield and stat lowering, Small sandstorm from Max Rockfall, Rock Tomb Climb, and the always useful Electro Web. Ash VS Alain does not compare in the slightest to how well handled this entire Ash VS Leon bout was.
