>>51767632Iris is a prodigy, with a 99 trainer win streak on her shoulders from when she was a little kid, while also having the benefit of having Dragon Master powers. At any time she can connect her heart to her Dragon Pokémon and bring out a short powerup to seize victory. Iris’ Excadrill managed to tie with Drayden’s Haxorus, and notably Drayden is a Dragon Master himself. Iris’ Axew also overpowered Cynthia’s Garchomp for a split second back when they first battled. Iris went on to travel across the world training with and battling against other Dragon trainers, and managed to become the Unova Champion. By doing so, she was able to defeat Caitlin’s Gothitelle that could hold its own against Cynthia’s Garchomp, and Alder’s Bouffalant. Unova doesn’t however have the best track record with truly strong trainers besides the two that were just named, so despite being the Champion, she still lost to Ash’s new JN team.
Alain is a fish out of a water, and being one shotted by Leon’s troupe was the most realistic and obvious of outcomes.
And finally Ash, the trainer that people seem to not understand the most. Why is his JN team so strong? Because he spends all of his team training them in the Sakuragi Park with each other and Goh’s Pokémon. He trains them from when he wakes up to when the sun goes down, and they even train amongst themselves sometimes. Besides Pikachu who for the first time in forever hasnt dealt with some sort of reset, all of Ash’s JN Pokémon have taken the advantage of not constantly traveling a region and just being in one place, to develop themselves and each other. They are so strong simply because they finally have the opportunity to get that strong. And Ash isn’t the only Champion who does this, as we saw with Leon as well. Now with a team that can rival Champions, and arsenal of mastered gimmicks, Ash is at his absolute best and that is the reason why he can equal Leon.
