Also the fact that none of the Conference Winners other than Alain returned, its safe to say none of them beat the Elite Four/Champion other than Alain.

The Gabite was a last minute addition. I was even planning to put Lavaitar in there but had to hold myself back. Gotta make sure the file doesn’t get too big again.

Ash wasn't allowed to keep a fully evolved pseudo legendary pokemon for 5 episode when he wasn't a champion. Every special things that Ash received was on SM and JN series as part of damage control for Alain. While Liko who doesn't even have any motivation gets the strongest pokemon on Paldea handed to her though pure nepotism.

Not every instance of a legendary is at the same power level. The birds in M2 were treated as an apocalyptic level threat, but in later seasons like RS and XY they’re basically stronger regular pokemon- same for Lugia where it went from “god of nature” to “stronger regular mon that’s a mom with a kid.” Rayquaza went from a mon that constantly just lost things like cubes and rocket grunts to an unstoppable force of nature, while the opposite portrayal happened to Kyogre and in SM one was struggling against regular poachers.

They ended up doing it anyways with Trevor's Charizard vs Alain's in the Kalos League. Not to mention they brought back Alain in JN so his Charizard could fight Leon's who didn't even gigantamax it when they could've brought back another character instead. It annoys me that Ash's Charizard trained at the valley and became strong fighting stronger Charizards only for it to never do it again. They could've at least had a quick battle between Ash's and Kiawe's when they visited Kanto in SM.

They dont, its just that Ash is a slave to shilling whatever mons are new so encourage kiddies to buy the new games to have what Ash has. Reintroducing shilled Charizards via other characters closely connected to Ash (Alain, Kiawe, Leon) is their workaround for that.

Kanto had a fun League, but most of the Gyms were pity wins. Johto's League was okay (Ash vs. Gary was disappointing, though Ash vs. Harrison was tight) but the Gyms were nothing to write home about. AG had a great League and the Battle Frontier, but the Gyms were full of dipshit logic. BW isn't as bad as people make it out to be, but the League really is a trainwreck. XY's Gym Battles are all great, but the League itself feels empty. There's no lower or midcard, so Ash vs. Sawyer and Ash vs. Alain don't feel earned. SM's Kahuna battles are good, but the League is...well, the Alola League. They overcompensated from Kalos feeling empty to overloading. JN had Ash vs. Leon and that's mostly it that's worth talking about.

Which is a dumb decision that makes them ether too insecure who are afraid that past Ashnime characters will steal all the spotlight or too overconfident enough to think their OC can carry an entire show despite the failure with Alain and Goh. Even Boruto died after Naruto was removed.

The smartest decision would have been past Ashnime characters reappear as supporting cast just in case new main characters turn out to be disappointing. For example: Goh reappear on Kitakami and tries to catch Kleavor with his Scizor.

Looks like I was right about protagonist rotation again. Original protagonist needs to be involved in the show even if the mantle goes to the new protagonist.

Pokémon 2023 would only work if Ash reappears as a supporting character and help RVT from the sideline. Trying to bet the new series on an entire cast made of OC was a mistake specially after Alain and Goh flopped. Unfortunately some executives are too egoistic and overestimate their OC.
