Tobias is just a dark horse plot device and he doesn't front as anything else, as if the narrative itself came down to tell Ash "there's always a bigger fish", plus it's far more kino seeing the soul crushing feeling of being outgunned with Darkrai sweeping half his team turn into a "fuck it lets give it our all, as long as we can fight we have hope" after sceptile takes it down, the first of ANYONE in the league to do so, that shit was unironically hype
