Please don't kid yourself because there are many other characters that won against Ash including Misty on MPM.
You can't accept that Alain is a self righteous faggot who outright contributed to a mass genocide to satisfy his ego and got away with it while being rewarded for it without any consequence while Ash & Greninja had to take responsibility for him so you use that one "win" as an excuse to defend him. The very fact this anime still could not make Alain lose onscreen for the second time in six years unless his opponent is the world champion Leon who was known to be undefeated on Master Tournament is the walking proof that all future Pokemon anime series without Ash will be a disappointing wish fulfillment fantasy about executives new self inserted OC. Guess what, three month didn't passed since Ash left and the new anime already introducing OC so special that his partner was a freaking Rayquaza.
