>>57075131It was a waste, they could have easily created a backstory showing that each of them had a similar journey to Ash to emphasize their level, Bede being sponsored by Rose traveling through different regions, Hop learning through other Gym leaders who visited the region, even working as a sparring partner for his older brother's friends-rivals, and Marnie being the poorest of the three making a name for herself in illegal underground battles.
I don't have that much of a problem with the OCs, but they shouldn't have dedicated too much time to them, they could work as a complement to Goh and Chloe's episodes, but for the WPC they should have had a better structured plan, they could have brought back old characters in the form of cameos without dialogue just showing how they faced each other while a sports narrator gave the results or just images of them being disqualified to show the strong level of the tournament, I can't take a world tournament seriously when a random is in advanced stages.
It would have even been a perfect opportunity to bring Tobias back and get beaten by a champion with a normal Pokemon while Tobias uses legendaries giving the message that raw power without skill has a limit.
