This, along with Horizont, was what killed the remaining anime fandom. No, Horizont isn't a bad anime, and yes, it has its fandom base. What I'm trying to say is that as a mass phenomenon, this was the end of Pokemon anime. Now it's just a niche anime, and I doubt its popularity will ever return. Even during the Johto-Hoenn transition, the audience drop was massive.
