>>55731443Using "gentle" as an excuse for Liko's bland actions is a poor cop-out. It doesn't provide depth to her character and instead feels like an easy justification. Gentle characters can still actively engage with the story in a variety of ways. Does she ever really do anything for herself? Her main goal seems to be taking Terapagos to Rakua, and everything she does revolves around that. Liko isn't selfish, unlike Roy, whose main ambition is to become stronger and capture Rayquaza—a classic boyish dream. Similarly, Friede wanted to explore the world on his flying boat-turned-blimp because he found being a professor dull until he met Pikachu. In contrast, Liko lacks her own clear goals and ambitions, despite being the protagonist. This seems like a byproduct of her being a girl, which is disappointing. What does Liko truly want for herself? Letting your female character act human won't cause viewers to change the channel—in fact, it may make her more relatable and engaging.
Sometimes she verges on Chloe/Eevee with her "TERAPAGOS THIS TERAPAGOS THAT" stuff every five minutes. Even in the Rayquaza fight she felt mostly kind of gawking and in the background than the main character of this show compared to Amethio, Roy and Friede. It's a weird choice for your main character.
