>>58099514No, that's like the only thing XY has going for it outside of the online. The honeymoon period for XY was probably the best point in /vp/'s history. Unfortunately XY is a game where the more you dig into it the worse it gets, it's easily the most surface level Pokemon game. You look at the Battle Maison and go "wow tons of formats" but then you realize the AI is completely broken and you can cheese it with like two teams and they cut the iconic WiFi mode that referenced the original JP Crystal Battle Tower when the online is the only part of the game that's actually good and you can go on tangents like that with just about everything. Except the online, man that shit was good and Pretendo needs to get off their ass and fix it. But back to your point, popularity in the moment doesn't mean shit if it doesn't hold up long term. Funnily enough almost every Pokemon game that sold the most just so happens to be some of the worse ones. Gen 1, DP, XY, SS, all of them have some serious fucking problems. Even my beloved GS is scuffed because they had to finish the game in like a year and had no time to actually balance anything or finish some of the Pokemon so they just focused on making it not DQ2 and putting the good playground rumor shit in and hey guess what that's what Pokemon is kind of about. XY wishes it was like that instead of having the postgame circumcised.
