>>58938395The English dub's "season 3" starts on episode 90 has 47 episodes. This puts the end of the season at episode 136, so 8 episodes left after episode 128 airs tomorrow. This means the show would end between mid-April and May depending on if it takes any weeks off.
So why does this matter? Most likely, this number was in the contracts made between TPCi and the TV stations and streaming services that acquired the rights to distribute the show. Basically, the distributors bought a 47-episode package and TPCi is required to provide them 47 episodes. If there are any episodes beyond what the distributors bought, TPCi would have to either amend their contracts (unlikely) or sell them a completely new package, a "season 4". No series has had four seasons since DP. Of course, that doesn't mean it can't happen, but it would be a significant break from precedent for the dub.
A similar thing happened with Journeys, as the Master's 8 ended but the dub season still had more than ten episodes left, basically confirming the epilogue arc before it was announced.
