>>57770194>Kusaka was trying to write for XY, ORAS and SM arcs all at the same time if I remember correctly,He didn't, and it wasn't like he didn't have a similar workload before. In 2002, he started RS while finishing the volume release of the end of GSC. In 2003, he started FRLG. In 2004, he started the Battle Frontier (Emerald) arc. In 2006, he started the DP arc and was wrapping up the magazine releases of RS and FRLG. The magazines are actually the key since he was able to publish multiple chapters per month for any of the more important arcs while still having room to publish the remake arcs on a monthly basis.
The volume releases being disrupted by BW2 was bad as well since it meant that the practice of "end the magazine serialization on a cliffhanger and publish the full ending in the volume release" stopped being a thing as BW2 was still being serialized online, so what happens for the mainline arcs is that they're being released one chapter at a time, and have to quickly end so the current arc can be replaced with the next arc without having the luxury of the volume releases. Instead, PokeSpe released minivolumes to compile the magazine releases with some art corrections, but nothing substantial like the pages added in a normal volume release. In hindsight, this problem was really stupid, but maybe PokeSpe had some licensing issues with TPC or Shogakukan that made it practically impossible to just do the volume releases for the arcs that weren't in a complete standstill unlike BW2. The volume releases also fuck over SM, SwSh, and SV right now since ORAS' final volume has been delayed for the past three years.
