2) An Example of an Orion Concept
The Orion project began in August 2016, and I've summarized my thoughts at the time.
■ Orion Overall Schedule
I felt that the schedule led by Masuda had been slow, so I acted as quickly as possible and compiled a post-event schedule detailing what I did and when.
■ May 2016: The Oldest Orion Document
This is the earliest initial concept for Orion, written during Niji's Golden Week holidays, before Orion had even begun.
The project's name at the time was REX (King).
The setting and giantization were also written at this time.
As with Titan, I researched England to find map elements.
The original concept was for the kings of each species:
Eight types of giant Pokémon live there: mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians, crustaceans, fish, insects, and plants.
Joker would absorb the giant factors of these eight Pokémon and undergo eight stages of evolution.
This was the concept. (What's interesting is the concept at this point, which describes a strategy-driven game using the "Wild Battle" AI used in Titan.)
■The Orion Region in October 2016
I drew the full map two months after the project began.
(I drew it in a hotel in the UK during the media tour.)
At this point, it was called the Dyne region instead of Galar,
and I envisioned a story of going from the countryside to London, turning the UK upside down.
Although I drew it as quickly as possible at the time, it was still about six months slower than Titan.
Due to the high costs of modifying the map at Niji,
I created an accordion-style map (as I called it) that would minimize the impact on other areas even if the map's length was adjusted.
