>>58446875>These games are still absolute gutter trash compared to any other JRPG on the market. That's a given. It's been a given since before the jump to 3D with some notable exceptions, and got worse with time.
>Sounds more to me like you lowered your standards after SWSH to rationalize why you still buy the gamesNo, not really. I don't really need to rationalize getting games. If I feel like playing, I either buy or pirate it and that's it.
But I haven't really lowered my expectations because they were already low. I know where the bar of quality is with these games and don't feed false hope they will turn into graphical powerhouses and get all the modern QoL other RPGs have the next coming game.
The time I almost quit Pokémon was Gen 4, because of the slow engine and how the story was just a retread of gen 3. Gen 5 drew me back in and since then, I sort of always knew where I stand with Pokémon.
I was only talking about that under the low bar we're talking about to begin with, Pokémon stopped getting worse and started improving after SwSh, with SV dropping the ball on the technical side but not on other aspects. At least for what I want to see in Pokémon which is more fleshed-out characters and better exploration. If they keep taking it from here, things may get interesting. For me at least, Pokémon has a fuckhuge fanbase with people who want all kinds of different things.
