Back when I was a kid (as early as kindergarten age), my biggest fixation were insects and above all else, Lepidopterans, alongside Pokémon. I had a butterfly net with which I'd catch wild ones to identify and let go (wide-brimmed hat and shorts included, yes), an ant farm, a terrarium, we raised stickbugs we'd steal from the zoo, I cried when I watched Nausicaa and they took away her caterpillar thing, my first card ever was a Nincada, etc. I even drew myself and my mom as a caterpillar and butterfly respectively in most of my drawings - hell, I'm pretty sure I'm a Wurmple in one of them. And don't get me wrong, throughout the years I've expanded my interests beyond just entomology and I've had favorite Pokémon from throughout all types. But with my 23rd birthday just around the corner I can't help but reminisce about how much fun it was to get to experience having these two passions side-by-side as a kid and how much I'd love to pickup either, or both, again. I don't see nearly as many butterflies in my city as I used to, but maybe I'll move to someplace else and dust off my net.
tl;dr they really should print more bug pokemon or come up with some archetype for them in the TCG so i can actually play with them outside of showdown
