Turns out all chosen children only exist because of a new character's wish, and then the wish gets reverted at the end but children only lose their digivice and get to keep their digimon for some reason (because they had to stick to the 02 ending which the writers hate but can't ignore)
It's almost as bad as kizuna stating that digimon were tied to a child's development and once they grew up they'd lose their digimon
