The Chinese language is #1 in terms of homonyms since the language is monosyllabic and the syllable structure has rules that enforce the words to be very simple and similar to each other.
This is solved by having a set of ~4 000 "hanzis", hieroglyphic symbols to distinguish the words but since any transcription into English from Chinese is phonetic, there is no reliable way to memorize an actual Chinese name especially since conventional transcriptions very seldomly denote the tone usage (which serves as another semantic distinguisher)
