i dropped my switch in the bath like a retard so i restarted sometime in late 2023 or so, and since then i've really taken my time with the game, picking it up every few months and just doing whatever for a while. gotta say, i definitely like it a lot more the second time, specifically the artstyle and region have grown on me a lot. i mostly got over my kneejerk reaction to the new pokémon pretty shortly after release, but i honestly appreciate them a lot more now in hindsight - especially the regional forms and evolutions. galar has a really strong identity that i didn't appreciate before, i have to say it - there's a lot to like here. also, holy shit the character customization is INCREDIBLE.
i replayed X recently too, and while i can say i appreciate it more now that i'm 28 and not 16, i still haven't turned around on XY like i did on SWSH, when at the time of release i considered the latter worse than - or at least as bad as - the former. i don't consider either of them truly bad anymore, but it still really made me think.all that said, even though i like the atmosphere and identity of galar more than paldea, i still think SV is a better game. the writing is just so much better, they really delivered for once.
