Meeting a legendary doesn't mean you have to abandon your league ambitions. It's a very different experience, saving the world is a heroic task that you do because you're "le good", while League battling is more like something in between sports and gambling.
There is no "good guy" in a Pokemon battle ground, it's about skill, luck, reaction, training, tactics and strategy. The aim to be the very best like no one ever was.
The philosophy is all about the clash of ambitions.
