>>53313842-In a mirror of the earlier sequence, Ash is now the one in trouble, and the Pokemon work together to save him. It's a nice "goes around comes around" feeling.
-A strangely evocative image during the final celebration, as Wailord uses its water spout to create a rainbow and a happy Latias flies through it. This feels like definite telegraphing to the classic Ho-Oh imagery from episode 1. This also confirms that on some level, Latias also cares emotionally for Ash now.
-A final sunset goodbye as we see literal orange islands in the background. Lapras' herd comes by, and he must return to his position as leader (cool how much he's grown).
-Misty and Brock connect Lapras and Ash here, not only tying him to a "leader" role, but also acknowledging his willingness to drop everything and help Pokemon in danger, and needed to be saved himself (just as Lapras needed to be saved way back when). In innocent fashion, Ash doesn't even recognize the trait in himself (that's just who he is). This is a part of what will matter in the Gary conversation.
-Great final gag as Misty realizes that they could have just solved the problem easily with a Pokeball, perfect ending to a funny episode.
This was a really fun episode! Really straightforward so I didn't get to schizo out too much, but this was the funniest episode of the mini arc so far for me. Simple, straightforward, fun (way better to me than Episode 3 or 4 for example).
I'm finally caught up... now that the rest of the episode descriptions are out, I'd like to do a proper prediction Omake post before Episode 8 releases, look forward to that.
Until next time!
