Does anyone else flipflop? I've always been a chill hetero guy but idk Dawn gave me mild dysphoria back in '07 or whenever that shit came out. Her design screamed "literally me" the same way the kid from Gold suited me in '01.
>>58048439i picked boy until Diamond because Dawn speaks to my feminine side. Woulda been about 12. Went back and played May in Sapphire but, meh, wasnt the same. Went back to self-inserting and being macho again. Picked the girl in Sun/USUM because I wanted to be a Gyaru girl like tan+blonde with blue lipstick(so the old "girls have better customization options" except unironically)
Then back to Dawn or """AKARI""" because, idk she just feels right.
not sure what I'll pick in ZA.. Probably just be a guy again. I feel like I've lost a lot of appreciation for the female gender in recent years. Their mystique is gone.
>>58048453This. Like, females aren't really that interesting anymore. Kind of "old hat".
>>58048472also this. I don't like playing female warriors in fantasy because it isn't realistic. i stick them in cleric or ranged roles. But in pkmn, I feel like the narrative isn't negatively altered by gender choice. A girl could tame monsters just as well as a boy. Some character moments work better with a certain gender too. Brendan challenging his father while May is content to live under her father as a researcher works better to me. Red/Gary rivalry works better when theyre both boys. Cynthia mentoring Dawn works better than with Lucas. Shauna watching the fireworks with Calem seems better.
Black and White feels gender neutral. N is a good foil for Hilbert OR Hilda and Cheren and Bianca work with either too.
I'm also gonna throw out there that I feel like trans really is a gender dysphoria disorder and it probably should be treated/cured instead of encouraged. Find what you like about your gender and embody it. That was my experience anyway. I lacked guidance and strong role models as a youngster. I'm all better now.
