Weird thing is May actually has the second largest temper of the main girls after Misty, and I have no idea why people forget that. She basically spent her entire run bickering with 4 boys (Ash, Max, Drew and Harley) and got angered easily.

Which was a freaking mistake since now there haven't been any girl as good as May despite 15 year passed after her last appearance.

He blow Ash's chance with the Best pokegirl because he was to write a Shoujo love story.
And now he trying to shove a boring and dull girl like Serena on Ash even though she is no match for May, Dawn or Misty.

Maybe,Pokeani would remain a good anime if Tomioka focus more on Ash rather then trying to write shoujo manga story in pokemon.

Why don't rivals in the anime ever return? Gary got a few follow up appearances after the OS but they were extremely brief and short, and now he hasn't appeared since 2009 in DP.

All the other rivals like Drew/Harley, Paul, Zoey, all the BW rivals, etc...all never showed up again besides cameos or in ending themes. Why are the rivals all tossed aside?

You mean literally everyone bit Misty?
May had a few, drew, harley and solidad.
Dawn had Kengo, Nando, Ursula, Conway and Barry and Zoey and even Jessie if you wanna count her.
Iris had Georgia.
And Serena also have a few of them.

I'd say Ash/May started off good in the very beginning of Hoenn, but it was left behind after May got more into Contests and into her rivals Drew/Harley. One thing I like about it is May is one of the few main girls who seems to outgrow Ash and move out on her own. I kinda like the fact that May learned what she could from him and then became independent so she's not obsessed with him like some of the others.

Skitty/Duslops was crap but Skitty/Jynx was a planned out victory. May kept using Assist so she would get Fire Spin which was super effective against Jynx. Likewise she didn't get it right away because it got string shot and vine whip prior.

Also Munchlax never won a single Contest battle, so I don't know why you're bringing up Metronome. The only time Munchlax wins a battle is against Harley's Wigglytuff in the GF but that's because it used Focus Punch on it, it had nothing to do with metronome.
