May had a temper, she was silly, she was nice, she was sad, she was arrogant, she was a big sister, she had great interactions with Drew/Harley, she loved food, she loved traveling, she was sarcastic, etc.
May had some of the most personality traits of all the female characters. People didn't just like her over Misty because she did more and had boobs, she was also an intersting character on her own right.
I mean I also liked Dawn and Serena is OK, but May was one of the most characterised female characters of the show.
