Ash had several friends, rivals, his family, professors, and strangers helping him along the way. Ash always had help to get to another region: Gary/Oak (Johto and Sinnoh), Harrison (Hoenn), Oak/Delia (Unova and Alola), Alexa (Kalos), and Cerise (World Championships). Hell, Goh got his Leaf Stone from Chloe's Yamper, and he never would have gotten to Alola in this episode were it not for Ash telling him about Alolan Exeggutor. Goh means well, and he doesn't want other people to hold his hand and baby him all the way to the end of his dream, but he fails to understand that nobody lives on their own island. Everybody gets help, whether they want it or not.
