>>53474896The progressive degradation of the dub has to do with TPCi cutting corners on pretty much everything. First they canned almost all the original English voice cast and script writing team in late AG, and played nepotism with Carter Cathcart, Kayzie Rogers basically during that time giving them the chance to jump ship while not even asking the principal players if they wanted to continue or not and break the contracts to do so.
Next, TPCi likely decided in XY, to fire John Loeffler for Ed Goldfarb because Goldfarb is cheaper, IMO. John Loeffler got to last post-4Kids up until BW, they brought him back in the DuArt dub, but they got rid of him by the end of BW (he started replacing more of the OST in Season 15, but it never got as bad as it did under Goldfarb in either the 4Kids or TPCi runs, Season 16 was on par/slightly worse than AG/BF though).
Finally, TPCi decided to bring back censorship in late XY onward/visual edits, and embrace the worst of the 4Kids Era because ????? I have nothing for you, even 4Kids kept Meowth drowning and souls leaving bodies in the Season 1/Indigo League dub and TR drinking from wine cups in Season 7/Advanced Challenge dubbed TPCi censored in SM.
And we get to the very worst of the entire English dub, JN/Journeys, Cathcart has made two mistranslations in a row lately first with Iris and Serena, "more faithful" my ass.
