Even which Series is best is a debate: DP/XY have the most vocal online fanbases but plenty of detractors too, believe it or not.

Johto, BW, and SM get the most criticism but have quite a few fans as well, respectively.

Kanto, Orange, AG, BF, DP, and JN are in between, though JN comes in for the most backlash to the dub (which most actually agree it's the very worst, so not contentious for once).

The 4Kids vs TPCi vs Japanese version is a debate, like PokeShipping vs Advanced vs Amour etc. etc.

4Kids is to blame for any issues the dub had from OS-late AG, TPCi is to blame for all the issues from BF-JN, because those were the production companies in charge of the dubs during these periods.

Like, literally everytime they've tried to troll or do something different despite fans saying otherwise (for better or worse), they've ended up eating shit for it (deservedly, a number of times) and backpedaling

>no more legendary holding trainers after Tobias
>Trip dissapearing after the BW league
>Cameron never appearing again
>outrage over Alain getting followed up by Ash winning the SM "league"
>dropping SM artstyle and trying to recapture the XY feel with JN
>JN having Ash catch a number of fully evolved pokemon to make up for all the ones he never did or kept at "cute & marketable" 1st stage

Dubfags and Rocketfags have been based the fuck out hardest by MPM, only things I love about this. We told everyone the dub was garbage for years, way before JN, and that it’s going to end at its worst says a lot about how much TPCi was garbage at handling it- and we told people TRio were the most annoying characters in the Series over time and shells of their former selves, 10 just confirmed they were the biggest waste of time of all the chars.

I mean, on a superficial level, sure. They're traveling across regions. Though we still don't know why they are, so that may make the story go in a different way from JN. And they're traveling by airship instead of being in a central hub, so there'll probably be less of a trivializing of distance like there was in JN where Ash would go to Hoenn in one episode and to Kalos in another as if it was nothing.

Anyone who didn’t grow up with it has no excuse though, zero, and even some of them are admitting the dub is genuinely bad now.

It’s sad, JN is Ash’s final Series and the dub is going out at its worst in 25 years. I really hope they actually try with the new Series, since there’s no old stuff to refer to they have the chance for a true fresh start: they can use it to finally stop living in 90s dubland but will they? Doubtful. Again, I’ll give the Riko/Loy Series a chance dubbed, MPM fuck no.

Most who still even watch the Pokémon dub will fully admit it is at its absolute worst in SM/JN, ironically. I haven’t seen **anyone** these days defend the dub voices for Misty, James, TRio’s dialogue, or the music changes in particular, says it all.

James is the funniest case, Cathcart BTFO. He was such a dick at the time of the dub switch, makes it even funnier: deserved karma.

Pretty much. You even have causals who defend the XY dub (I find it to be the worst dubbed saga before the last 2 came along, most did as well) who won’t defend the dubs for SM and JN, should speak volumes. For all the crap 4Kids got for mishandling many of their other properties, but not all of them, their dub for Pokémon was still better than what it was replaced with. Only casuals still watch the dub, most Anime fans dropped it ages ago.
