JN has more references to XY than XY has to every other season. By XYfag logic thats more than enough and they shouldn't have any more continuity nods because we dont need them

I think this is just JN pulling an oopsie and rolling with it. Or maybe Delia caught it and gave Ash the ball for when he was staying at Professor Who-Gives-A-Fuck's lab so it's technically his now.

Johto is only that high because episodes that focused on them were the only good thing about that series.

Iris's real problem was that in BW itself, she never showed a single hint of aiming for the top like Ash consistently has sonce episode 1.
Ash's problems only start after XYZ when the whole show is rebooted in anything but name and SM&PM2019 make Ash look and act singinificantly younger than he was than even in the first episode of Indigo League.
By that point I stopped buying the BS, the ashnime is handled by people who don't like it, hence the garbage SM/JN artstyle. It's designed to make people seethe

Eventually? I missed him the moment 136 ended. He was a fun character and I enjoyed the episodes that dealt with some of his deeper emotional issues and memories. On top of that, his dynamic with Ash was my favorite in all the years I've been watching Pokemon. Regardless of the things that I would've changed in how his character was written and used, I still really enjoyed his presence in JN.

Maybe these final few episodes have just been some kind of production test to see if the show was worth keeping around and they could boost the ratings with the old gang and see if it was worth going back to the old Kanto formula.

These last few episodes have been meh, but certainly leagues better than all of JN and the Masters bullshit put together while actually resolving forgotten plot points. Now if only these tards could do something about Pidgeot and Primeape.

The thing is if Jessie/James get any sort of ending, it's hard to imagine it happening without TR being disbanded. They literally told Giovanni in JN's finale they're going after the "strongest Pikachu in the world tournament" so even if TR fail in this ep, they would keep stalking Ash.

I hope the writers do not leave that open ended.

Tomioka was simply writing the M8 given the limitations that the series had presented, and whatever he did "made the most narrative sense" at that time. had Tomiyasu given the old reserves more time to shine throughout JN, and gave Ash more battles and moments to develop his JN team alongside the reserves (instead of some pity episodes), then Tomioka would have considered reserves for the M8.
