I'm not saying it needed to be 1/3 Ash, 1/3 Goh, 1/3 Chloe from the start, but, man... they could've essentially written a "school anime" within the anime by giving Chloe a recurring school storyline, when she wasn't a background character in Ash and Goh's story, where it would develop her, her school relationships with friends, and her thoughts on Pokémon, which could then have built up organically to Eevee, and her subsequently joining Ash and Goh full-time. That way she's fully developed in a very atypical Pokémon setting before crossing over into the typical Pokémon setting. Also, if they were going to do returns, I wish they didn't just have Chloe meet Dawn, Serena, and Lana and that's it; having her meet a non-contest companion like Iris would've been nice to show her the prospect of becoming a serious battler was a path, too. It really seemed odd how Chloe didn't come with Ash and Goh to meet Iris, and Chloe only arrived at the WCS after Iris had left.
And then there's that whole idea someone proposed in an earlier thread about Goh's Pokémon having a recurring Cerise Park arc interwoven throughout JN, but we'll be here all day if when try and list all the ways JN could've been executed better lol.
