They gave regionals and megas to Slowbro and Raichu, Typhlosion couldn't make the cut because Nintendo pussied out at some kid googling Typhlosion and accidentally finding out what rape is.
For some reason, they brought up the two Johto starters (both less popular than Typhlosion by a large margin), creating an unecessary Starter war and makind the entire Typhlosion situation more uncomfortable.
The result of this dumpster fire of a starter line up:
