>>59030982>always thought johto mons were super special due to how rare and unavailable they were in gen 3Never thought about it like that but I do think Johto has one of the best Pokedex and gen 3 are my favorite games. I don't care if they're shitmons, I love how they look. I still think it's due to growing up during Pokemania and Johto Pokemon being the coolest thing ever before I abandoned Pokemon. Holding a Neo booster pack was my last Pokemon memory as a child. The shilling campaign for Johto Pokemon has never been replicated. There was so much hype, excitement, and promotion for the new Pokemon that it was unavoidable. You had the games, movies, cards, and endless merch. If they continued to do that with every new gen people wouldn't forget about Pokemon by the time the next gen comes out. New Pokemon has become a schedule and routine instead of a monumental event to look forward to. You have to wait for months to see new Pokemon in the anime, there are no movies, and the cards have to compete with staple shillmons. They don't even tease random new Pokemon before the games other than starter trailers or route 1 Pokemon in the second trailer. They're blinded by game sales and are losing the long term potential of new Pokemon.
