Pokemon wise it's probably either Hoenn or Unova:
Kanto has a very balanced selection, a lot of really boring mons, some really cool designs, and a good chunk of extremely ugly designs.
Johto has high highs and none of its designs are as bad as the worst of Kanto, but is overall extremely boring.
Hoenn feels like a better Johto, still keeps the highs, still doesnt have anything as bad as the worst of Kanto, but the average design is somewhat less boring than Johto.
Sinnoh designs are generally pretty cool, but there arent many of them under all the cross-gen evolutions which are a major mixed bag compared to the solid selection of new designs, still has it's stinkers though.
Unova is the all or nothing, either a design is really really cool, or its fucking ugly, there's almost no inbetween, has the lowest lows of that era but probably more "really cool" designs overall than the previous gens outside of maybe gen 3.
Kalos is less offensive than Gen 5, but also starting to veer into johto-boring territory. Its got some cool designs but as a whole the roster feels extremely plain.
Alola just doesn't really feel like pokemon to me for whatever reason, I can't judge its designs as a whole as a result, but it has a few standouts.
Galar has like 2-3 new pokemon that are cool and the rest fucking SUUUUCK.
Paldea was the first time I legit had trouble putting together a team though, I do like some of the designs but there are just so fucking many ugly ones.
