I like both your suggestions, I think he'd be a great balance between a nice rival and a jerk rival were his potential more realized.

I want him to have more screentime.
I want to battle him more.
I want him to have a team hard enough to pin me down and raw dog me like Corbeau's.
I want him to feed Team MZ with other food fusions besides croissant curry during dinner cutscenes.
Most importantly, I wanted him to have more relevance in the DLC besides battle buddy for Rogue Megas so he can improve because when the plot is dumb, his character suffers.
I hate that I have affection towards this fictional idiot.
