>>58251770>KantoYou can't mess with the classics, some absolute standard-setting designs here. But being the first gen there's also some oddball designs because they hadn't quite figured everything out yet
>JohtoVery nice dex, nothing super outstanding but it felt like a nice extension of Kanto, making the world more fleshed out. I like that in a lot of ways it feels more rural than a lot of Kanto, reflecting the region nicely
>HoennThe best. Large amount of new pokemon and most of them are fantastic. Not too many duds.
>SinnohSome good pokemon here, but overreliant on (pre)evolutions of previous pokemon. A bit of a mixed bag
>UnovaVery large dex with a lot of effort put into it. It has some of my favorite pokemon while also having some of the worst. High highs and low lows, not much inbetween
>KalosGeneral quality of the designs is pretty good, I wouldn't say there's any outright bad designs here. However, there's also very little truly great designs either. Everything is decent but nothing sticks out too much. The low amount of new pokemon is also a detriment.
>AlolaDefinitely my second favorite. While it also has a low amount of new pokemon, the designs are generally very good, and it is by far the most cohesive pokedex in the entire series based on reflecting the specifics of its region. Truly feels like a tropical ecosystem. In the same vein, introducing regional forms as pokemon that adapted to new environments was a stroke of genius.
>GalarProbably the worst of the bunch. A few great designs, but most of them are bland or just bad.
>PaldeaGenerally good, but pretty wonky. I think by trying so hard to finally have another 100+ new pokemon dex, there was less quality control and some undercooked designs got through. No idea why Pawmo or Flamigo exists at all if only to pad out the dex to get to a bigger number.
