>>58469564>>58469687I was hyped for this game because I loved PLA, got me back into the games after dropping off with Sun. its wacky because I fucking hated the Sinnoh games and had no nostalgia for them but PLA's up there as one of my favourite pokemon games. XY were my next least favourite games after DP so I was sold on the legends formula and the thought of them being able to turn my opinion on kalos around
at least 60% of why I took to PLA so hard was my taste in games has deteriorated to loving "fuck off into the wilderness and fill out a checklist" to unhealthy degrees though
PLA and pizza both have the same bones to them but in PLA it was more about exploring and collecting while pizza is more combat focused. I will say that even going in knowing the exploration isnt the focal point doesnt really excuse it feeling kinda shit to run around it. You could argue its ludonarrative bullshit furthering the themes of the story or whatever but the game being set in one dense map doesnt really mesh with the "legends" style imo. Collecting and doing the research tasks also feels more tedious than enticing because some of the wild areas Just Suck and they're more there to have something to do
I don't really have an opinion on the story since i'm not done with it but it takes a while to kind of get interesting and most of the characters are kind of annoying but in entertaining/funny ways rather than the usual vapid pokemon writing which is debatably a plus?
pizza feels like if Pokemon was a happy meal Yakuza game that sniffed some mmo dungeon bosses here and there and honestly most of my issues with it can be boiled down to "I was hoping for another apple but I got an orange"
Questionable design decisions still sneak in here and there but debatably I'm enjoying it so far. I don't think I'll truly finalize my opinion on it until legends galar happens and solidifies how the legends series iterates or if its the fuck it we ball series of doing whatever
