>>58867418 I've talked about some of my ideas in previous threads, but while I hadn't paid attention to Pokemon for a bit, then PLA came out in 2022 and in 2024 the Teraleak happened. PLA's take on Pokemon battles, the more Japanese aesthetic, and the Hisuian Pokemon as well as the sort of colonization narrative really appealed to me. But at that point I hadn't written any fanfic since middle school so I just typed out a vague idea in a word document alongside about a dozen others and called it a day. Then by the time the Teraleaks had come out I had already gotten back into writing fanfiction so I gave the idea more thought.
I really wanted to do a story that explained how a modern version of a pokemon came to be, Hisuian Sneasel was a pretty easy pick from there. I always figured Hisui/Sinnoh was just north of Kanto and Johto and I could make the mountains in between the natural habitat of the Sneasel and Sneasler, besides that a Fighting/Poison type becoming a Dark/Ice type seemed a pretty interesting switch.
From there Mahogany town was a natural pick, there used to be Ninjas there and they seem like the sort who'd want to breed a Dark or Ice type pokemon since they live just west of the Blackthorns. After that connecting them to Pryce felt more or less natural.
Of course then I ran into a problem, Pryce was a grown man during the events of the story (10~8 years before RBG), as an adult he was way more liable to get bogged down in politics. Not only that but I had no idea how to handle Tean Rocket Pryce as the MC.
Thus, Rhys came to be, I could have a character that's involved with but doesn't get bogged things. Besides that I like Clair and I could make them more or less the same age since I like her.
And sorry to disappoint you pokefuckers but if romance does come up eventually it'll probably be with Clair.TLDR: it's been marinating for awhile.
