>>588711274 (HGSS/Platinum) > 3 (Emerald/ FRLG) > 5 (Irrelevant, they're both a slog) > 2 (Crystal) > 1 (Yellow) > 6 (ORAS/XY) > 8 (BDSP/LGPE/PLA/SwSh) > 9 (SV/PLZA) > 7 (USUM)
>4HGSS are the peak of the franchise, and Platinum isn't far behind.
>3Emerald is enjoyable even if the post game is a slog of bullshit, and FRLG are the definitive way to play through Kanto.
>5While gen 5 parts 1 and 2 are boring slogs that stop you every 5 seconds to have some NPC spout inane bullshit, mechanically they're an iterative improvement on 4 and when I'm not having my ear talked off by some glup shitto or that faggot N, I'm almost having fun even if half the dex is bootleg chinese knockoff gen 1 mons. Part 2 fixes this by adding good pokemon from the older games but has more unskippable crap.
>2Crystal is the definitive gen 2 game with more content including Eusine and the Suicine subplot and the Battle Tower.
>1The OGs, Yellow has the best roster and the following pikachu with better spritework.
>6ORAS is... fine I guess, X and Y are just bland and boring.
>8BDSP, LGPE, and PLA carry this. BDSP are at the least faithful to the original games and a taste of what the franchise has lost with a few good QoL improvements like the removal of HMs and the Competitive E4 rematch teams, LGPE is a fun spinoff with an interesting catching mechanic that's more involved than mashing a on the item option, and PLA was a new direction with fun new mechanics and an incentive to catch em' all - something we haven't had in a while. Never played SwSh so can't speak about them.
>9I haven't played these so I can't comment on them beyond what I've seen, but they're both buggy messes that fail to deliver from what I have seen.
>7I played about an hour of this, got to the first mantine beach, and never picked them back up. Glup shitto gen 1 shitmon roster, ugly starters I boxed immediately, too many cutscenes I can't skip, a shitty rival who's not even a rival, fuck USUM. Trash.
