Nearing the end of XY, and going to start XY&Z soon after. Some things I've noticed:
>Serena and Bonnie tend to have the best focus episodes
>Serena, post-haircut, gradually starts adopting many of Ash's traits, like getting very obsessed with training, becoming more of a risk-taker and more aggressive in battle, and overall tries to mirror him
>there's much less spaghetti spilling than the memes suggest, and usually Serena's crush on Ash is reflected more subtly, in things like adopting his traits mentioned above
>there's a lot less in terms of original Miyazaki music for XY besides game theme remixes and reused movie music than in past series
>Pancham and Chespin's little rivalry kinda dies around the time M18 came out, and they barely interact anymore; I'm trying to remember exactly where they stopped
>Bunnelby gets a lot of screentime at the end, starting with the flashback episode just before the Eevee episode, and its interactions with Chespin seem to replace the Chespin/Pancham ones
>Serena's Eevee seems like a rare case of a non-retarded Eevee, though maybe Koharu's very retarded Eevee is skewing my memory
>there's a surprising amount of foreshadowing in the use of quotes and scenes, as well as well-placed flashbacks (usually from Serena), that ties this series together
I know Bonnie takes a bigger role in XY&Z, so looking forward to that.
