>Level design is terrible>Dex is terrible>Visuals are terrible>Character design is terrible>Writing is terrible>Then just to spit on its grave it was the first to cut the dex and a bunch of movesTo talk about the story in particular, it's one of the worst stories I've read in a video game. You have a few rivals here, the brownie, the girl, and the grandma boy.
Brown is like if Hau had the defeatist attitude of Calem/Serena. No presence either way.
The girl is literally just there, she doesn't do anything and barely has any character.
Grandma boy was their attempt as a smug asshole rival except he gets disowned by his I guess father figure (the main """villain""" who pretends(?) not to remember him, no idea), then halfway through the game gets kidnapped by a witch and disappears until you're doing the game's equivalent of the elite four where he reappears as an entirely different character. He was then a lala prancing homo and replaced half his team. Very confusing.
Then the actual plot. The main "conflict" of the game was that in 1000 years the sports energy will run out. Rose, the villain, had a talk with Leon, the sitting champion, about helping him with reviving an ancient evil to replenish the sports energy. Leon said yeah alright but not tomorrow I have to do the championship (i.e. elite four). Rose went "hmm, I think I do it anyway" and hijacked the championship to announce he is bringing about the darkest day, for the future of galar. The surge of sports energy caused chaos across the region due to pokemon suddenly being dynamaxed or something. You then have to ditch the champion battle to go off and capture the ancient evil and fight Rose is just like "alright I'll go to prison" and then you go back to fight Leon and the game ends. Why did he decide he had to do it that day? Uh
There was also some weird post-game story starring the Bogdanoffs but I didn't read it.
