Correct, Cynthias team utterly destroys his (even more so after BDSP)
in the games he is just the regional galar champion same as the rest of champs, there is no world tournament. He might not even be stronger than Prime Mustard
Actually he is in an even worse position since his gimmick doesnt work outside Galar.

anime Leon had a chance to be stronger than her if he beat (or even tied with) Ash, but that didnt happen either

in Masters both Cynthia and Red are well above him

Diantha was basically a return to older Champs that didn't involve themselves in the plot much.
Leon was all over his games and was unbearable for it, despite also being weak. His design sucks too.

It was insane how much everyone fucking hated that fight.
I saw people I personally knew who mocked and shat on Diantha for over a decade for being a shitter literally who Champion absolutely malding and seething over it. Just from how over the top of and ridiculous of a fight and result it was and how insulting and spiteful it was towards the character.
People really really hated that fight. I still remember how much seething there was on the anipoke Twitter when they asked people what were their thoughts on the episode. I seriously have no idea what they were thinking because it did anything but "hype" Leon which I surmise was their intent.

You're falling for a bunch of low iq tricks terrible writers employ to make their characters appear better than they actually are. Leon getting """upset""" has no effect on the plot and is not used for any sort of development. Mary Sue characters always do this crap, Rey chimping on Luke did not make her appear any less like a Mary Sue to the audience.
